If you find you are having trouble getting you boat up on the plane

If you find you are having trouble getting you boat up on the plane there is several things you can do. Firstly make sure all the weight is moved to the front of the boat as this will stop the boat lifting at the bow (try fuel tank and then move yourself as far forward as possible). Travelling with a passanger can also help.

If you have over powered your boat, the process of getting onto the plane could be dangerous. We do not recommend over powering your boat in any instance.

After market options that can help with getting your Escape Boat onto the plane include:

  • Installing a hydrofoil on the outboard motor which improves speed and boat handling. A Hydrofoil will help put the boat on plane much faster and will help maintain the planing effect at lower speeds. See picture below, on the left without a hydrofoil, on the right with a hydrofoil installed. You can find hydrofoil in boat stores such as Bias boating and Whitworths.
  • There is also the option of planning tabs at the back of your boat.
